Discovering this new unique talent, mani spinx, happened the wellknown way: I heard Last Night In America in the radio and I almost couldn't believe that it was created by a Danish artist from the present! I had expected it to be an American hit-tune from the 1980's.

I bought the album, Post Modern Panic Attack (released on 4. September 2006), and I realized that here we dealt with a complete faschinating and multi-talented genius, whom I had to explore a little further.

mani spinx gave a breathtaking performance of his fantastic songs for a too small audeince this cold night in Albertslund covered with heavy snow.
Though being a rather young man, he seems inspired by a handful of my 60's idols. From the evenings show I heard influences by Lou Reed, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, The Velvet Underground, Country Joe McDonald, The Beach Boys, John Lennon, Cream, - but also modern performenrs such as Julior/Senior. Not by copying their music, but bringing back the 60's sound in a very personal fashion.

Beside Last Night In America the 12 minutes long, Juliette, was the highlight of the evening. It was almost like a symphony, starting in a Velvet Underground-mood, raising in a crecendo and ending sounding just like a Doors-live song with Mads singing very equal to Jim Morrison.
In Smoke A Flower, which sounded like a John Lennon song, Mads managed to include an improvised credit to the support band, Lily Electric, (see the photos of Lily Electric here) in the lyrics.
The concert appeared to be a really variated and entertaining experience.

mani spinx is one of the most talented newcomers at the Danish Music Scene today, and you should do yourself the favouor to attend one of his live performances.
